| "Cool Ft. Lauderdale" was an assignment to show color control. We ( as a class) had to do a contour line drawing directly on the stretched canvas of a stimulating place and paint over the pencil lines with black acrylic paint creating WIDE black lines. This breakup was treated as flat patterns and the color scheme used was "cool colors"...hence the name "Cool Ft. Lauderdale." I took a trip to the beach in Ft. Lauderdale and after walking around for a while, looking at landscapes ( which I honestly dislike to paint ) I finally decided to paint this sidewalk...it was the only thing that caught my eye and besides the wind was blowing like crazy and I wanted to leave right away. Painting the beach sand in different values of green was a challange..."Cool Ft. Lauderdale" is cool but its just soooo still life. I'm learning to live with it though...ENJOY! | ||||||||||||||
