| I got the idea to create this piece from my mom who suggested that I paint the Virgin Mary...I thought it was a really cool idea but I wanted the piece to relate to art, so I created it in my own likeness...A very interesting piece that contains a variety of collage media...The cult of The Black Madonna was widespread during early centuries of christianity, and peaked during the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries in Europe, particularly in France and in Spain...Among the oldest, of the Dark Madonna is Our Lady of Guadalupe, located in her shrine in Spain...Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe of Mexico City is officially declared the protector of the people of Mexico...Others include Our Lady of Montserrat, located in Catalonia Spain and The Black Madonna of Breznichan...FRESH! | |||||||||||||||||
