| My home boy "Playboy Patrick" came over to the studio to hang out the day after I finished this piece and concluded the art was "TIGHT!" and that I was getting better as a painter, which to me felt good :)...I've always wanted to paint a child but never really got around to doing so until I stumbled upon this vision that help set the groundwork for this painting...I did not want to give the piece a "real life" look as nothing is "real" in my world (when it comes to art that is)...I wanted a very "Cartoonish", "Pop Art" kind of feel to it (hence the red hair)...I adore the various brown tones in the face and although this is not a photograph of me, it still is a depiction of my people as a black race...The collaged emerald stud earing is just a personal touch of mine since I was born in the month of May...I was going to paint in the background a light green color, but "Playboy Patrick" suggested I leave it blank to show the growth rings (since it's painted on wood) which in turn will make the flesh tones stand out...Like we always do...PEACE! | |||||||||||||||||
