ABOUT ARTWORK
"Benny Waters" was the oldest internationally touring jazzman...In January 1995, Waters celebrated his 93rd birthday with performances at the New York jazz club Metropolis, playing sax with confidence, sly humor, and considerable flair. If there were times when his intonation seemed less secure than it once was, that didn't matter too much...His unihibited gusto came through with each surprising, infectious upward swoop of his horn...Waters conjures up the reckless gaiety of the JazzAge. And why not? He was a part of it, playing top Harlem nightspots in the 1920s and '30s - and getting into everything after-hours...He went on to become an American expatriate, a favorite in Paris for four decades, before recently deciding to move back to the U.S. to spend his final years here - "Chip Daffaa"
