| ABOUT ARTWORK | |||||||||||||||||||||
| I first sketched out the design for this piece and was not feeling it at first, because of the brown hues on brown background layout... but I kept saying to myself "How can you judge the piece when it's not even finished?"...I gradually continued to work while adding different values to the piece, some reds, some with blues...Then came the hard part of making her face stand out from the background layout...I first thought of painting her braided hair red, but I already added red in some of the values of brown and didn't want to redden the piece to death, so I thought about my favorite color blue and then thought that if blue was going to "work" with the various browns already in the piece, it would have to be of a very light hue...I could have easily painted her hair orange (like her scarf) but orange has red in it and like I said before, I didn't want to kill the piece with reds...The orange scarf is my 2nd favorite thing in the piece because although it is illustrated in geometric form, it still gives the impression that it's flowing in the wind (Hopefully!)...I cannot see things in circular form (biomorphic) and lines do not bend in my universe...I only see things in a structured form (geometric) and so I had to illustrate the scarf that way, but it still worked out fine...This piece goes out to all the chocolate ladies out there...ENJOY! | |||||||||||||||||||||
